Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: upstart

For some unknown reason, my computer will hang with a black screen or a
scrambled screen when I try to " sudo telinit 1 ". From what I
understand it is supposed to dump me into a lower level login shell, but
it never arrives, no matter how long I wait.

I also have this hang sometimes happen when I select shutdown or
restart, tho its far an few inbetween, but this happens 100% of the
times whenever I directly type in sudo telinit 1.

Also, sudo telinit S does absolutely nothing for my session.

Let, me know if I can provide any more information.

** Affects: upstart (Ubuntu)
