Hi. I tested that performance problem happends either i386 and amd64 live CDs. I found this post: http://ubuntuforums.org/archive/index.php/t-295052.html, regarding problems with problem fixed on 7.2 xorg version. Anyway I am running amd64 and testing package is only available for i386. Do you know if there will be an available package for amd64?
Timo, regarding your comment about ATI model autodetection, I my case works fine. I have got "ati" on xorg.conf, but radeon is loaded properly.
