Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: network-manager

I have ubuntu linux 9.10 for x86-64 platform.
The version of Network-manager is 0.8 a git.20091013t193206.679d548-0ubuntu
downloaded from ubuntu official repository.

My problem has appeared since the last update.
The problem is that the wireless adapter (Intel PRO / Wireless 4965 AGN) is not
activated by network-manager during the startup and even through the manual
execution of network-manager.
Gnome applet under "Wireless Networks" is given: "wireless network disabled".

If I start network-manager with the command NetworkManager - no-daemon I
get the following output:

f...:~$ sudo NetworkManager --no-daemon

If I configure the wireless network via the commands:
sudo ifconfig wlan0 up
sudo iwconfig wlan0 essid...
sudo dhclient

the network is functioning properly even if NM continues to indicate
inactive.

If I uninstall nm

sudo apt-get purge Network-manager

and then reinstalled with

sudo apt-get install network-manager

nm for the next reboot it works correctly. It comes back again to the
second reboot after installation.

File /etc/network/interfaces conents:

auto lo
iface lo inet loopback
