A related issue, captured in bug #408710, is that Nautilus places icons
in "dead space", the unreachable part of the desktop adjacent to the
smaller of two different sized monitors used simultaneously. This is
still a very common use-case for laptop users.

The issue was mentioned in this blog over a year ago, but it seems no
