The backport modules (2.6.31.15.28) (which I think is based upon stable compat-wireless-2.6.32-rc4) help a lot. I've had stability for several hours on those drivers with no DMA stalls
The only downside is the the connection speed tends to be 11Mb/sec or lower with a 40Mhz 802.11n AP. Entirely the opposite of the over aggressive speed optimisations of previous versions.
