Good point. I just did a complete re-install of Ubuntu Studio 9.10 and ran apt-get update/upgrade. I'm now going to blacklist the audio output of my ATI graphics adapter in /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist.conf (so that the RME HDSP is the only audio device) and reboot.
