Screenshot of VLC fullscreen panel bug showing output from my DVB-T TV card, to show the panel which is permanently placed on the screen and is forcing the video to fit the screen around the panel, as opposed to the former correct behaviour of fully filling the screen.
** Attachment added: "Screenshot of VLC Fullscreen panel bug" http://launchpadlibrarian.net/35835004/vlc_fullscreen_panel_bug.png ** Description changed: Binary package hint: vlc An update tonight in KDE4 has had a negative effect on VLC (and only VLC from testing other media players). When I use fullscreen mode using any of the video output modules (XVideo, X11 or OpenGL), the KDE panel will permanently show and force the video to fit around it, resulting in - black borders at the side of the video. + black borders at the side of the video. This bug also has a sting in the + tail for anyone using a dual screen monitor setup with NVidia drivers - + the XVideo output disregards NVidia VSync settings (which allows VLC + output on one screen and other output on the other screen) and allows + video output without the well known line of screen tear bug in + fullscreen. Updates tonight cause a line of screen tear on VLC, + regardless of what setting or video output module is used. I am using VLC 1.0.3-1ubuntu1 with Ubuntu Lucid Lynx. What should happen: The video should fit the screen fully as previous behaviour, without any black border or any panels showing.
