I have the same booting issue.  I upgraded my Dell Latitude D630 from
9.04 to 9.10 and now it will not boot on battery power.  It shows an
all-white ubuntu logo (same as if plugged in), but then flips to a blank
screen, and my hard drive light shows no activity.  If I hit ctrl-alt-
delete the display flips to console and complains about not finding a
hard drive, then restarts.  Let me know if there are any logs or
specific messages that would help to fix this bug.
