I have the same booting issue. I upgraded my Dell Latitude D630 from 9.04 to 9.10 and now it will not boot on battery power. It shows an all-white ubuntu logo (same as if plugged in), but then flips to a blank screen, and my hard drive light shows no activity. If I hit ctrl-alt- delete the display flips to console and complains about not finding a hard drive, then restarts. Let me know if there are any logs or specific messages that would help to fix this bug.
