Yes, I'd seen bug #77010 very early on when trying to debug this, and I also tried the workaround in bug #398161 (which is to rmmod and then modprobe the module again), and the workaround does not work for me. (I can easily see that rmmod made the module vanish and that modprobe puts it back, but that doesn't restore functionality; I tried it again just now to make sure.)
