My Ubuntu Karmic crashed after Video Card upgrade

In my case, ubuntu crashed after I upgraded Video Card to nvidia 9800GT
and installed manually new driver 190.xx without uninstalling previous
version 180.xx which is installed by System >Administration > Hardware
Drivers. (monitor Acer with 1440x900).

1. To fix the problem I uninstalled manually all nvidia drivers, and installed
again new nvidia driver.
Probably you need to restore /etc/X11/xorg.conf file if you have done backup
copy, and modified /etc/usplash.conf files according to post #26.

2. Another Solution is to boot Ubuntu Karmic from LiveCD and save configuration
files for graphic card:
/etc/X11/xorg.conf
/etc/usplash.conf
make backup of your configuration files and replace by those from LiveCD,
in terminal or in recovery mode (in real system NOT from Live CD) run command:
update-initramfs -u
reboot system
