this happened to me too, when I was using ext4 it was way more frequent. Now that I'm using ext3, it happened again. I removed all ibex.index files and folders.db in ~/.evolution/mail/local and the index was rebuilt and evolution now goes fine. I made an evolution backup when my evolution was broken, maybe it could contain some useful infos about how to reproduce the bug. Tell me..
