An additional thing I noticed: If I activate compositing and overlay in full screen windows in the window behaviour options (/home/xyz/.config/xfce4/xfconf/xfce- perchannel-xml/xfwm4.xml, property name="unredirect_overlays") my ENTIRE SCREEN starts showing the same blurriness. I had to manually edit the xml back from Gnome because xfce had become unusable.
