Hi! I can confirm that E156G modem works flawlessly with 2.6.31-11 kernel, from http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/v2.6.31.1/, following this map http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/info/kernel-version- map.html.
