Initially there seems to be a conflict with the rt2800usb driver.
With an RT3070 device present there is no wlan at all (in the network manager
applet)

After a modprobe rt3070sta the driver appears in lsmod, and there is a
wireless device,

This fault has been reported on the Ubuntu-nl forum several times,
without any solution.

The rt3070sta driver is not operational. Obviously no RT3070 devices are
recognized at all.
