Forgive my poor English ... If the actions in mime folders doesn't not solve the issue, verify that the name of the pictures that gthumb doesn't show includes the extension of the file ".jpg" Unknown file extension is recognized by nautilus but gthumb doesn't. I have the same problem but it occurs only in the directories where I have renamed the pictures using gthumb. I didn't include the original file extension (%e) in the new name of the file... I can see the pictures with nautilus and open it with gthumb but it doesn't show the directory...
-- gThumb do not show any pictures in directories, although the fact that they are there.
