I can't disable the screensaver in Mplayer or VLC. There appears to be a
separate bug report on VLC that gave me the impression the problem only
affected VLC, but in my case the problem did not exist in either player under
9.04 and does on both my PC's now upgraded to 9.10 affecting both VLC and
Mplayer.
I hate to say it, but each Ubuntu upgrade seems to not only accumulate some new
bugs but also retains a growing number of old bugs, some of which I find
complaints existing since Ubuntu version 6. Personally, I would prefer to see a
reduction in the number of bugs rather than an increase in the number of
features, most of which do nothing to improve the use of my system.
