Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: policykit-1

I'm in LUCID now, and I'm experiencing this problem.
policykit does not work (I can't mount external disks, I can't edit system
network connections, I can't edit users and groups, I can't change labels in
the disk utility). Almost everything ends up with "not authorized", and edit
dialogs are greyed out.

I tried to manually start policykit to see if there is some debug and I
got this at startup (then nothing else):

(polkit-gnome-authentication-agent-1:3283): GLib-GObject-WARNING **:
cannot register existing type `_PolkitError'

(polkit-gnome-authentication-agent-1:3283): GLib-CRITICAL **:
g_once_init_leave: assertion `initialization_value != 0' failed

I think that policykit can't be started
