Ok, now I directly used amixer to mute and set gain to 0 on both Internal and external mic but when I 'click' on an atached external mic, arecord is still recording.
I couldn't get arecord to use the internal mic, whatever combination of arecord -D hw:0,0,0 0 and 1 I gave always resulted in an error.
