32bit karmic
/etc/default/memcached
ENABLE_MEMCACHED=no

wonder how/what makes this setting to 'no' in the first place!

for the first 2months after a fresh installation of karmic along with a
combo of memcached, xcache, zendaccelator, i was frustrated with the
fact that not being able to login on one of the blog cms as an admin
without disabling memcached func in the cms.
