Hi Paul, If you do not have the same hardware as the original bug reporter, it's best to open a new bug. Even though you may be experiencing the same issue, kernel bugs are typically hardware specific. We can easily mark bugs as duplicates later on if necessary.
halcwb, unfortunately without any additional information such as error messages, it'll be hard to narrow down the root cause of these hangs. 1) Would you possibly be able to ssh into the machine after it appears to freeze? If so, could you try to get your dmesg output at that point and attach it to his bug report. 2) When you say the system freezes occasionally, can you be more specific, ie. once a day? once a week? 3) It may not hurt to try running the latest 2.6.32 upstream kernel to see if this issue remains. http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel- ppa/mainline/v2.6.32/ .
