Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gnome-system-tools
Ubuntu 9.10 - User Settings Window (Navigate menu: System-Administration-Users and Groups) I was expecting to change my current user password. My password remained unchanged after reboot, even though "User Settings" indicated "Password Changed" Steps: 1. Navigate to "User Settings" as above. 2. Select current user account and click Properties button. 3. Click "Change Password..." 4. Type current password and click Authenticate 5. Should see "Authenticated!" in status area. 6. Type new password in both areas 7. Click "Change Password" 8. Should see "Your password has been changed" in status area. 9. Click close. 10. Reboot 11. Login with new password fails! You will need to login with your old password. Note also that the keyring password must also be set in order ot connect to your network after login. Apologies if this has already been logged... I was not able to find it.
