@Marcus Carlson - I believe that resizing technique while helpful (what I end up doing when having trouble myself) is specific to Compiz. I guess those without good enough hardware would likely be running XFCE instead of Gnome though.
@daniel - I agree, "video" tutorials could be helpful. Something to assist those (like I was) trying this new Linux thing on their own instead of fumbling through it all and getting discouraged. But we are now getting off-topic.
