This is interesting. I get this error in 2 Karmic's. One is a long history upgrade starting from Feisty, Gutsy, Hardy, Intrepid, and then Karmic. And another one is a fresh install on VirtualBox.
In both gstreamer is installed with selected plugins (the same plugins are installed in my Hardy that does not throughs this error) from Karmic repositories, and this includes gstreamer-plugin-bad and gstreamer- plugin-ugly. And I have this error in both of them. Anyway, I've reported the problem to upstream before I posted it here. You might be interested to take a look at what was said in regards to Karmic.
