Thank you for your bug report. However, the backtrace attached above is missing all the gtk related symbols, and I'm not sure it shows the issue anyway. The strace log doesn't really give any indication of what the issue is, and looks like what I'd normally expect to see for an idle event loop.
If you're seeing large memory consumption, please try to obtain a valgrind log following the instructions at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Valgrind and attach the file to the bug report.
