Since java-gcj-compat does not depend on java-common in ubuntu anymore
java-alternatives is never set up. I posted a bug to the debian
maintainer about this and another bug where it crashes with a
NullPointerException if you attempt to run it with gcj, even in a sid
chroot. He has released another version of the package that changes
the depends from java-gcj-compat to openjdk-6-jre which takes care of
both problems. Sorry I didn't message you about this when i frist
started working on it. I am new and did not know about you email the
previous uploader requirement at that point.
