What seems to be similar is that my printer is connected to the network using an internal Jet Direct print server.
My analysis to this: The printer did not change, the file did not change, the PPD did not change so the only thing new in Karmic are printer driving libraries. In Bug 419143 at some stage one suggested it was an error in the PS interpreter of HP. Good start. The printer was there before Ubuntu even was introduced, it works nice with Windowss with the before mentioned testfile. If I can be of any serious help, let me know.
