This file is probably empty (0 bytes) . You can get rid of this package by removing both prerm and postrm $ sudo rm /var/lib/dpkg/info/arpalert.*rm $ sudo apt-get remove --purge arpalert Regarding arpwatch the message is different but it's also due to a corrupted file: dpkg: varning: fillistfilen för paketet "arpwatch" saknas, antar att paketet inte har några filer installerade. You can refer to bug 108189 which describes this issue and propose a workaround. Finally, the freeze is something different. Your system seems to freeze as soon as you access your network device under certain conditions (wireshark, arpalert, ...) If you find a way to reproduce this failure please report it by running the following command which will attach necessary information: $ ubuntu-bug linux Thanks. -- package arpalert 2.0.11-3 failed to install/upgrade: underprocess installerade pre-removal-skript gav felkod 2 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/492822 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
