Public bug reported: I own a Linksys WPC54G V3.1, a PCMCIA wireless adapter which I understand is based on a Broadcom chipset. The card doesn't work out-of-the-box, and while I'm not sure it's the appropriate thing to do, I've tried installing the Synaptic package bcmwl-kernel-source. Installing this package superficially appears to have built and installed a kernel module, however, when I tried inserting the card, both before and after a system restart, I don't get any indication that a wireless network is available.
dmesg seems to recognize the card insertion, but I don't see any significant follow-on activity. I've seen a number of online posts about this card and chipset, but most of the threads are old, and do not address how to get this card working under Karmic. ** Affects: linux (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Unable to get Linksys WPC54G wireless card to work out-of-the-box https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/494353 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
