OK, this has been driving me nuts. Also, I have had an issue lately of some applications being difficult to click on in the task bar under Gnome. I'm running Karmic.
Finally, I noticed on my laptop that things were working just fine last night. The difference is Synergy! When I turn it off, everything works great. I run Synergy at work because I have a desktop computer as well that I would like to share the mouse and keyboard.
