Anything showing up in /var/log/syslog when you try to start samba manually (sudo /etc/init.d/samba start) ?
Try purging to see if it goes better: $ sudo cp /etc/samba/smb.conf ~/smb.conf.backup $ sudo apt-get purge samba-common samba $ sudo apt-get install samba Does samba start ? If yes: $ sudo cp ~/smb.conf.backup /etc/samba/smb.conf $ sudo /etc/init.d/samba restart -- package samba 2:3.4.0-3ubuntu5.1 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 1 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/494243 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
