Hello Laritz, I have the same issue on my Acer TravelmateTimeline TM8571 with the same DVD Drive. When I press the eject button the kernel freezes for a few seconds till the drive opens correctly. If I then insert a medium into the drive it is not recognized.
I have several dumps in dmesg reporting this incident. If I boot the notebook with an inserted medium it is recognized normal. So there seems to be a problem with the opening mechanism of the drive via keyboard. When I use the eject command from terminal it ejects fine and I can change the medium. But the eject only works, if a medium is already inserted. I also changed the two bios modes for SATA from IDE to AHCI there seems to no difference. I attached dmesg.txt and scsi.txt to this comment with the kernel messages and scsi device information. My kernel is standard on Koala 9.10: 2.6.31-14-generic Regards, Elmar ** Attachment added: "dmesg.txt" http://launchpadlibrarian.net/36670747/dmesg.txt -- Matshita DVD-RAM UJ-862AS not working at all in Ubuntu 9.10 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/478025 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
