[IG: I don't understand your comments re the bell working in metacity -instead of- compiz. If that's true, you're talking about something different than we are. You should also strive to be more precise in your description. For example, when you say "system bell", I'm not sure if you're talking about something coming out of line-out, or out of the motherboard beeper.]
So there are actually a number of bugs here (e.g., the rmmod/modprobe fandango etc), but it's looking like the most-annoying one to work around is the stealing of the X bell events. -Assuming- for the moment that it's metacity or libcanberra (because my tests in X but outside of them "worked", for some value of "worked" modulo repetition rates, and because Robert reports that compiz also doesn't appear to be stealing events), then how do we establish this? Does anyone have an easy way of running gnome et al without metacity as a test? How about a potential patch one might make to libcanberra to see if the behavior improves? -- System beep broken in Karmic despite heroic efforts to fix it https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/486154 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
