I agree with everyone that this issue should be fixed in Ubuntu, somehow. But has anyone even bothered to complain at their ISP or modem provider, who are the actual cause of this issue? DNS Resolution isn't some small part of a operating system, you cannot 'just fix this here a bit' and see what happens.
