To be more precise, the problem seems to be in usability. To take the changes into use, one must go to 'Edit Index/Table..', select tab 'Styles' and reassign the changed styles.
wouldn't it be more intuitive if the assigned styles would be updated automatically? Or, at least, there seems to be a usability problem..
