weird. the two or three times i've been able to reproduce thois was
always from a freshly installed netbook install, and the always did
updates, and then customised things.

I've fixed the issue, but still dont what cause it in the first place. I
feel like im chasing ghosts here. I fixed it by deleting the .gconf, the
.gconfd and the .gnome2 folders in my home folder. Perhaps a weird
permissions issue? I dont know.

Here is a list of some programs i installed that were not default on the
netbook edition.

Checkgmail
gparted
remote destop viewer (vinagre?)

i also removed most of the evolution packages.

After doing that i would always activate ubuntuone and then i would
notice the problems. maybe vinagre changed it, i dont know. At least i
have a way to fix it without reinstalling now.
