I encountered this problem as well. By removing sessionstore.js from my Firefox profile (~/.mozilla/firefox/xxxxxxxx.default/sessionstore.js) and trying to execute Firefox from the command line (not sure if this is necessary), I was able to fix the issue and now I can run Firefox from a launcher as before.
