You've got to be kidding. Those people at Gnome just don't want this bug to be fixed. It doesn't matter if you talk to them or if you create patches. Some patches are already SIX YEARS old, but Gnome just doesn't cooperate. I've seen people got banned, because they were asking to finally fix this bug. Really, it doesn't care what you do.
