Still having this problem with my internal bluetooth card on a fresh install on 
Karmic on a hp compaq nc6000.
laptop spec here:
I cant find any info on the actual name of the hardware on the hp site, but I 
can vaguely remember it being referred  to as 'Bluetooth by HP' on XP. But that 
was a very long time ago. I'll take out the card later and have a look and see 
If I can get the actual name.
Anyway lspci gives nothing of value and so obviouly '$ hcitool dev' just 
returns the blank 'Devices:    '.
