Public bug reported:

Using Ubuntu Karmic on a Thinkpad X31 with an Atheros Communications
Inc. AR5212 802.11abg NIC (rev 01), i can't connect to any WLAN Access
Point using GUI tools like Network Manager or WICD. Using Network
Manager worked before upgrading to 9.10 from 9.04.

I tried to connect to different APs (one with WPA2, one with WEP) which
i know were accessible under 9.04. It doesnt't work either with
authentication disabled. There's no difference between using DHCP or a
static IP configuration.

It's possible to connect to the WEP-secured AP using a static IP using
command line tools (iwconfig, ifconfig, route). I didn't try to connect
to the WPA-secured AP using those tools direclty. So the problem is that
using the GUI tools doesn't work, using command line tools works.
