I have this problem too. I'm using HP DV6529em laptop.But my sound card is different from Audigy 2:
HD Audio - Conexant CX20549-12 OS Ubuntu 9.10 Because it is my third day with Ubuntu, I don't really have a clue how to fix this, neither I want to mess up my OS. Hopefully someone will come up with appropriate bug.
