Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: modemmanager

Trying to use Huawei E176 -- it's detected but can't connect (tried
vanilla karmic NM + ModemManager, and NM Daily PPA[1]).

A quick look at logs (as per [2]) shows that it connects and then
immediately hangs up.

I've read around the forums that the integration of ModemManager broke
many previously working modems. Is there a way to go back to 9.04-NM?
I'll try wicd + wvdial now...

I've attached NM's and MM's log (both with Karmic's default packages and
the PPA's at 29 december 2009) and the output of the mm-test.py program.
