Update - I have tried with kernel 2.6.31-16 and parameter acpi=off and I was unable to reproduce the bug for 3 days. I would say acpi fixes the issue. Now, I have switched to kernel 2.6.31-17 and I will test again without acpi=off (the default way) and I will let you know if I have more instabilities...
