I created a backtrace sort of like the instruction in the web site. The main difference is that I attached gdb to Evolution after it froze. I also didn't install all debug symbol packages: I installed evolution's as well as symbols for libgtkhtml which seemed like a likely candidate for the freeze and glib because it seemed like a good idea.
