I also have this problem in 9.10 with Brasero 2.28.2. I inserted a blank CD-R into my drive, right-clicked on an ubuntu iso image, and clicked "write to disc". The "Brasero - Burning CD" dialog then appears, and hangs at "Preparing to write" with the progress bar bouncing back and forth.
