Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gnome-control-center
When setting a Socks proxy (not setting anything for HTTP) in the gnome proxy tool, the HTTP proxy is set as an env variable which breaks usage of all CLI applications. $ env | grep proxy http_proxy=http://:0/ To test, you will need an SSH server to connect to: $ ssh -D 8080 u...@example.com Then, open gnome-network-properties, check "Manual Configuration" and enter "localhost" for Socks host and "8080" for the port. Open a new terminal, and run: $ wget http://google.com Error parsing proxy URL http://:0/: Invalid host name.
