Reporter of bug #503577, suggest that adding kernel boot options: apci_brightness=vendor although I believe it must be: acpi_backlight=vendor because I don't find acpi_brightness kernel option. As explained in http://ubuntuforums.org/showpost.php?p=8612908&postcount=828 But I guess it has to be considered a workaround, FOR A DIFFERENT HARDWARE THAN YOURS, but may be worth to try.
