I can confirm on Ubuntu 9.10 that removing gstreamer0.10-gnomevfs will allow you to import music from a smb share to rhythmbox (just tested it 5 minutes ago, before removing it it didn't work, I checked that). A pity though that some packages have a hard depend on gstreamer0.10-gnomevfs, not allowing them to be installed at the same time.
