I'm trying bjaglin/Dominik's workaround (#37/#27) after trying to SteveE (#3) that gave me usual trouble. On my box, I have an ATI RV280 [Radeon 9200] [1002:5961] (rev 01), it seems to give better results. No font corruption, no low reactivity of cairo dock and the scores on benchmark of compiz result at least double the first workaround.
