OK, so I booted back into Lucid and tried to resize sda17 and create a
new SWAP on sda18. The resize succeeded but creating the SWAP failed:
Create Logical Partition #1 (linux-swap, 1.08 GiB) on /dev/sda 00:00:14 (
ERROR )
create empty partition 00:00:06 ( SUCCESS )
path: /dev/sda18
start: 146882358
end: 149147459
size: 2265102 (1.08 GiB)
set partition type on /dev/sda18 00:00:06 ( SUCCESS )
new partition type: linux-swap(v1)
create new linux-swap file system 00:00:02 ( ERROR )
mkswap -L "" /dev/sda18
/dev/sda18: No such file or directory
I will next try some deleting tests (which was the error encountered
with the pre-alpha 2 Live CDs), but so far it seems that the error is
only present in attempting to create or format partitions. It has failed
with both ext4 and SWAP.
