hi

the behaviour you described could be related to the ibm cdrom drive.  
on ibm x3650 the serveraid bootable cds suffer from the same problem:  
the system boots, you can configure everything but when it wants to  
update the serveraid firmware it tells you "couldnt read image  
files" . if you burn the cd with 2x speed or use an external cdrom  
everything works as expected. maybe give it a try.
